In Memory of chị Long Trâm-Anh, anh Võ Văn Đạt, and anh Huỳnh Phước Đương, SAP-VN is pleased to announce the following two scholarships:

 

COMPASSION SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to two Vietnamese high-school seniors or juniors who have demonstrated extraordinary compassion for others and the community. This scholarship is intended to encourage students to continue their community services and to volunteer for SAP-VN.  Each recipient will receive $500 and a flexible, on-site or remote, 20-hour summer unpaid internship with SAP-VN.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be of Vietnamese ancestry and residing in the US
  • Current high-school senior or junior
  • Essay of up to 400 words about how you have demonstrated compassion
  • Unweighted GPA of 3.0 and above
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader

MOBILE CARE CLINIC SCHOLARSHIP will sponsor two Vietnamese low-income undergrad/graduate students or recent graduates to join the Mobile Care mission in Vietnam. The mission usually takes place during the last week in July or the first week in August.  The estimated cost of the trip is about $1,500/person, including airfare, hotel, transportation, and meals. Recipients must raise their own funds which SAP-VN will match 1 to 1 for up to $1,000.  Recipients will be expected to help plan for the mission and to take leadership positions during the trip to organize and mobilize youth volunteers. Requirements:

  • Applicant must be of Vietnamese ancestry and residing in the US
  • Current undergrad/graduate student or recent graduate (within 2 years)
  • Demonstrate financial needs
  • Two essays of up to 400 words each about how you have demonstrated leadership and compassion

Not eligible to apply:

  • Past recipients of SAP-VN scholarships
  • Immediate family members of SAP-VN Board of Directors or Scholarship Selection Committee members

Deadline for submissions will be Feb 15, 2019

Awards will be announced around March 15, 2019

If you’d like to give a gift to a homeless person this Christmas, here’s our recommended list. We want your presents to last, so we are only asking for new items.

* female/male hygiene
* winter blankets
* scarfs
* cookies/snacks
Useful food like basic canned goods

 

Hello friends and members of SAP-VN,

This past weekend for our October project, we partnered with the Chim Non Girl Scouts of Lien Doan Huong Viet to prepare 300 sack lunches that were donated to the Mercy House Family Care Center and other affiliated locations. I cannot thank the girls, their parents, and the Truongs enough for their hard work and generosity.

Tasks: Help cook and serve a meal
**Age 13+ only; If you are under 16, a parent must also attend
