Mission Statement

To improve the overall dental health of disadvantaged communities in Vietnam by increasing access to basic (extraction, filling) and emergency (infection control) dental treatment, preventive dental care (cleaning), promoting oral health education, and fostering lifelong healthy dental habits through collaborative partnerships with local dental professionals.

Program Description

The Mobile Dental Care Program is a community-based pilot initiative designed to improve oral health outcomes in underserved communities in Vietnam. The program is founded on the understanding that oral health is an essential component of overall health. Research has shown strong associations between poor oral health and serious chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. Despite this, many people in Vietnam seek dental care only when they experience significant pain or dental emergencies, rather than through routine preventive care.
To address this challenge, the program partners with local dentists and dental professionals to bring basic, emergency, and preventive dental services, and oral health education directly into communities. Our mobile outreach teams conduct dental screenings, perform basic, emergency, and preventive treatments, provide educational resources, and referrals for follow-up care when needed. Community education sessions focus on the importance of regular dental checkups, proper oral hygiene practices, and early intervention to prevent more serious and costly dental conditions.
The teams collect dental statistics and return every 6 months to repeat the services above and evaluate the effectiveness of their intervention.
By encouraging preventive care instead of emergency treatment, the program aims to establish healthier long-term behaviors within local communities, reduce the incidence of preventable dental disease, and lessen the burden of dental emergencies on patients and local healthcare providers.
As a pilot initiative, the program launched in 2026 in three provinces:

  • Dak Lak Province
  • An Giang Province
  • Da Nang Province (formerly Quang nam province)

The pilot initiative will evaluate community participation, improvements in oral health awareness, and access to preventive dental services. Lessons learned will inform future expansion to additional provinces throughout Vietnam.
Through collaboration with local dental professionals and community partners, the Mobile Dental Care Program seeks to build a sustainable model of preventive oral healthcare that empowers individuals to take an active role in maintaining their dental health and, ultimately, their overall quality of life.
